| Description: | Summary: Provide quality occupational therapy treatment and documentation for all rehabilitation clients. Functions as an effective interdisciplinary team member and demonstrates excellent customer relations.
Reports To: Rehabilitation Clinical and Administrative Supervisors
Titles Supervised: Rehab Aides
Hours Per Week: Per Diem

| Duties: | Essential Responsibilities:
1. Provide appropriate occupational therapy interventions under the guidance of an OTR.
2. Assist in developing treatment goals and strategies based on evaluation findings and patient needs.
3. Promote effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships while maintaining professional conduct at all times.
4. Provides recommendations to eliminate barriers and provide adaptation in the patient environment to maximize safety.
5. Instructs other health team professionals / family members in strategies and specific procedures to assist patients in achieving maximal function and safety.
6. Exhibit timely, efficient, and satisfactory completion of assignments and documentation with minimal or no assistance.
7. Participates in professional education and quality improvement activities.
8. Maintain a high level of flexibility in scheduling to accommodate changes.
9. Accurately record daily billable treatment times according to the rehabilitation department procedures.
10. Participates in departmental and facility in-services.
11. Successful completion of core competencies.
12. Other related duties as assigned.

| Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university OR
Experience: 1 year
Licensure: Current CT license certified by national board of certification in Occupational Therapy
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The staff occupational assistant executes policies and procedures of the Therapy department and The Jewish Home for the Elderly; maintains up to date knowledge of practices and skills in the profession of Occupational Therapy. Understands and implements instructions for equipment and procedures prescribed for Occupational Therapy. Reads and communicates effectively with physicians, coworkers and families and maintains high ethical standards. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile residents within the facility.
